Since its founding in 1982, Haymon Publishing House has sought to bring together young authors and established writers within its literary program. The house publishes novels, short stories, and poetry by a number of prominent authors such as Michael Köhlmeier, Christoph W. Bauer, Bettina Balàka, and Lydia Mischkulnig. It also releases crime fiction as well as selected works of non-fiction.

A Unique Location

The publishing house is closely linked to Haymon Bookshop (Haymon Buchhandlung), a literary bookstore located in the heart of Innsbruck. The bookstore is distinguished by its carefully curated selection of literary works and by its unique architectural design, which has earned several prestigious architecture awards.

Haymon is considered one of Austria’s leading publishing houses specializing in belletristic literature, devoting more than thirty years to publishing refined and contemporary literary works.

Literary Translations

Haymon’s catalogue spans a wide range of literary works—from high-quality literary fiction by authors such as Klaus Merz, Michael Krüger, and Bettina Balàka, to crime novels of notable literary merit, as well as translations of contemporary Ukrainian literature by writers such as Andrey Kurkov and Maria Matios. This rich diversity offers readers an opportunity to explore and discover new literary horizons.

The publishing house also pays particular attention to literary crime fiction and includes among its authors several well-known names such as Alfred Komarek, Tatjana Kruse, Herbert Dutzler, and Georg Haderer.

The Austrian Series

Haymon has created an online platform under its own name to provide information and introduce readers to this literary genre within its program.

In 2008, the publishing house launched the HAYMONtb paperback series, which remains to this day the only Austrian series that combines German-language literary classics with contemporary releases—as well as enjoyable crime novels.
