“Why Democracy?” stems from a dialogue between Wakefors and his brother, Martin Wakefors, which offers reflections highlighting the fundamental differences between authoritarianism and democracy. When democracy is under attack, it becomes crucial to recognize its immense value and the profound harm inflicted by authoritarian regimes.

She is a professor of theoretical philosophy at Stockholm University. Her research focuses on the intersection of philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, and epistemology, topics on which she has published extensively. She is a member of numerous international networks and research councils and was recently elected to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
