Trump 2.0

Trump 2.0

More powerful and influential, backed by tech moguls like Elon Musk, and “exonerated” by the ballot box after multiple convictions, and unscathed despite his scandals, inflammatory statements, massive lawsuits, and the vast amount of information he boasts about, Donald Trump has returned to the White House. Gone are the days of late 2020 and early 2021, when a segment of the world’s population breathed a sigh of relief after the election, accusations of fraud, and the attack on the Capitol. However, the billionaire had paradoxically transformed himself into a leader for large segments of the population who had lost out in globalization, and a global icon of the far right, generating a movement—Trumpism—that far transcends his own personality. Recent events and statements following his inauguration allow us to explore the unknowns posed by the Republican leader’s second term and the future of relations with other countries and international organizations in the context of militarization and the instigation of wars.

By exploring the personal and political trajectories of the 45th and 47th presidents of the United States, as well as the internal and external dynamics of the “land of opportunity,” its lobbying groups, and its establishment, this book invites us to dispel doubts. Within its pages, we will examine the evolution of a declining global power, revealing, as Olga Rodríguez summarizes in the introduction, “the key aspects of what US President Donald Trump represents, as well as the reasons and context that led to his reelection.”
