A Misunderstood Scientist: Debunking the Myth of Harsh Punishment and Revenge

A Misunderstood Scientist: Debunking the Myth of Harsh Punishment and Revenge

Why do we persist in believing that harsher punishments are better? Do harsher punishments truly make us safer, or are they merely an illusion of control? And what role does revenge—that dangerous human instinct—play in our laws, judgments, and opinions?

In this thought-provoking, profound, and essential book, Antonio Sanz Fuentes, with meticulous, satirical, and clear style, dismantles deeply ingrained ideas about crime, justice, and punishment. Using everyday examples, scientific analysis, and an engaging narrative, he guides us through the labyrinth of punitive populism—the simplistic rhetoric that dominates headlines and election platforms while ignoring decades of criminal science.

“A Misunderstood Scientist’s Memoirs” is an invitation to think beyond the slogans, to question what we take for granted, and to understand how our emotions, biases, and prejudices shape criminal policy. This work is as essential as it is unsettling, prompting readers to reconsider the true meaning of justice in the 21st century.

A courageous, decisive, and rebellious work that demonstrates that true security is not built on life sentences, but on reflection, science, and humanity.
