Karger Publishers in Basel, Switzerland, is a globally active medical and scientific publishing company. Independent and family-run in the fourth generation by Gabriella Karger, the publishing house is dedicated to serving the information needs of the scientific community with publications of high-quality content, covering all fields of medical science. The company puts great emphasis on direct and personal relationships with all its partners.
The Karger publishing program comprises some 50 new book releases every year as well as 105 peer-reviewed journals, which includes a growing number of open access journals. In line with the company’s commitment to the global transfer of knowledge, Karger content is published predominantly in English, with a strong focus on basic and clinical research, and is in general available electronically online.
S. Karger AG consists of the publishing company Karger Publishers (est. 1890), the International Subscription Agency Karger Libri (est. 1960) as well as the Basel bookstore Karger Libri (est. 1967). CEO Gabriella Karger is leading the publishing company and S. Karger AG, while her father Thomas Karger is chairman of the company’s board of administration.
With 250 employees worldwide, Karger Publishers is the largest medical and scientific publishing company in Switzerland. In addition to the company headquarters in Basel and a subsidiary in Freiburg, Germany, there are Karger regional offices or representatives in Australia, Brazil, China, France, Hungary, India, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, Thailand and the United States.
