Al-Rifaq Translations is a collective based in Poneke, Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand that translates contemporary writing from Arab scholars, journalists, and organic intellectuals. The collective includes Faisal al-Asaad, an independent scholar based in Wellington, NZ; Sumaia Daoud, a graduate of Birzeit University in psychology and sociology; Betty Davis, an editor; and Anisha Sankar, who lives in Toronto where she is pursuing a PhD in social and political thought at York University. Of Weapons and Words includes translations by Rouqaya Alkhateeb, Mohammed Elabadsa, Shadi Hamada, and Alaa Salaymeh.
