Con Igulden was born in London, studied English literature at the University of London, and worked as a teacher for seven years before devoting himself to writing. He is married with four children and lives in Hertfordshire. Since the publication of The Gates of Rome, Cone has written twenty more books, including the hugely successful The Dangerous Book for Boys series, The Double Dangerous Book for Boys, and his latest series set in Pericles' Athens.
