Elizabeth Tynan is a Professor at the Graduate School of James Cook University in Townsville. She is a prominent writer and researcher on British nuclear testing in Australia. Her book Atomic Thunder: The Maralinga Story (New South, 2016) won the Prime Minister's Literary Award (Australian History) and the CHASS Australian Book Award in 2017. Her subsequent book The Secret of the Emu Field: Britain's Forgotten Nuclear Tests in Australia" was published by New South in 2022.
