Phil A. Neil is a geographer and a communist. He grew up in a mobile home in the Siskio Mountains between California and Oregon, relied on himself to make a living through various jobs, participated in uprisings, and was imprisoned as a result. He received his PhD from the University of Washington in Seattle, and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee. His books Hunterland: The New Landscape of Class and Conflict in America were published in 2018, andHillworld: The Human Race and the Planetary Factory was published in 2025.
