He is a data editor and chief data officer at Google, and teaches data journalism at Middle-Northwestern University in San Francisco. He previously taught at the Berkeley School of Journalism. In 2013, he published Facts are Sacred: The Power of Data, which grew out of an award-winning blog of the same name.
