  • Reflections on the conditions of contemporary exile, asylum, migration, and community building at the margins of society. *

According to Belén Tan, there are forms of belonging that don't quite belong. In this collection of essays and conversations with artists and practitioners over twenty years of research and fieldwork, she seeks to identify the conditions of contemporary exile, asylum, migration, and community building on the fringes of society, in the context of space production, structural violence, landscape change, and environmental desecration. It also addresses the underlying methodological issues of critical practice, including radical pedagogy, forms of public participation, non-dominant founding practices, and the fantasy of survival.
