From the famous author of the internationally best-selling book The End of History and the Last Man, and other books dealing with the most important political issues of our time, comes an eye-catching personal intellectual memoir.

Francis Fukuyama, a prominent public thinker, is known for his groundbreaking and best-selling works in the field of political philosophy and history. Here, for the first time, he charts the course of his political and intellectual development over five transformative decades. We follow his journey from the student circle surrounding conservative thinker Alan Bloom at Cornell University, to the corridors of power in Washington and the Rand Corporation, to his own dialogues with world leaders, from Muammar Gaddafi to the powerful Chinese elite.Fukuyama touches on his family's story, including the arrest of his relatives during World War II with other Japanese Americans. In a surprisingly personal style, he reflects on the experiences that prompted him to re-evaluate his thought, particularly his bold public break with the neoconservative movement due to the invasion of Iraq.

In the Last Man's Kingdom is not just a classic memoir, it is a personal history as a political history - a life story that highlights the tumultuous fate of democracy and liberalism over the past 50 years.By returning to and developing concepts that have been central to his work - recognition, trust, identity, human nature, institutions, and the Last Man - Fukuyama offers depth and richness from personal experience and groundbreaking scientific research to highlight the crises of the 21st century.

Fukuyama's In the Last Human World is an urgent, fascinating, and essential book, revealing a great thinker who wrestles in real time with the vicissitudes of history, and looks forward to our potential future.
