This book is a response to Martin Bisch Holt's “The Country That Got Very Rich” and“The Alternative State Budget,” which paint a picture of a country in structural crisis. The authors show how these perceptions are based on a selective use of numbers, a simplified understanding of history, inadequate analysis, and that they perform a specific political function.Throughout the book, the authors discuss the claims and questions that characterize the social debate: Has oil wealth become a sleeping bag? Did we mismanage the Petroleum Fund? Are we innovative enough? Is our large public sector a problem?
Our rich country shows that Norway is far better equipped to meet the challenges of the future than many would like - and that drastic cuts and systemic changes are not the answer.
