The novel “La República” (ALFAGUARA, Madrid, 2026) by Mexican writer Jorge Volpe proposes a narrative hypothesis that begins with a real event, which is the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The writer assumes that US President Donald Trump was imprisoned after that and did not reach the second presidential term, and whoever came to power in the United States of America was not another presidential candidate, but rather an artificial intelligence model called "Nick", which predicts citizens' behavior through analysisTheir data and understanding their motivations. In a direct sense, the work reads as an alliance of the far right and the tech rich, with the participation of artificial intelligence in creating a new tyranny.

“The Republic” is a title that refers to Plato’s Republic, but it was formulated here in Silicon Valley. With the assumption that Trump will be arrested, a second hypothesis arises, which is that Biden died on board the presidential plane, and Kamala Harris assumed power. After that, Senator V. or. Lively and his wife, Igni Kayris, the programmer who created Nick, wage war on Harris and her toolsWar is the manipulation of data and misinformation, which finally pushes the supposed American president to resign, and the chaos created by the two becomes their excuse for seizing power, with Lively emerging free of the devastation he participated in creating. The novel also tests the continuation of “Trumpism” after Trump’s removal through Nick’s adoption of policies of deporting immigrants, using marches to suppress demonstrators, and authorizing business owners to rule. In this image, what appears to be an imagined dystopian text about the future is only an image. From picturesReality itself.
