In the French Cévennes in the 1960s, educator Fernand Deligny built an extraordinary community with a group of autistic children. It wasn't a therapy program, but a shared way of life: they baked bread, made films, herded goats, and drew road maps. Thus, the zigzag lines of Deligny's autistic "non-verbal" children become a raft in the mountains where the "aesthetics of the earth" breathes in that daily work which welcomes Edward Glissant's call "not to allow the self to be one thing."
