Fascism is no longer just a topic in history books; it has become a pressing political challenge. What can we do to confront the forces that once plunged the world into war and genocide, and which are now resurfacing? Author Jonas Bals explains what fascism is in the past and present, citing examples from Ukraine, Russia, Palestine, Israel, and especially the United States under Donald Trump. In Norway, we don't have widespread racist movements or parties, but we have also witnessed acts of terrorism targeting young social democrats, Muslims, and LGBTQ people. Ideas once associated with the far right are now gaining traction. To reverse this trend, we must understand the history of fascism. We must organize ourselves and build alliances, because anti-fascism is a collective effort.
