The Anthroposophical Publishing Network
The network of publishing houses associated with anthroposophy is among the most prominent entities involved in publishing intellectual and philosophical works related to spiritual science and humanistic philosophy in France and Switzerland. This network includes the French publisher Éditions Triades and the Swiss publisher Anthroposophiques Romandes (ÉAR), along with other specialized publishers.
Origins and Foundation
Éditions Triades was founded in 1952 by Simone Rihouët-Coroze (1892–1982) with the aim of publishing the works of the philosopher Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy, in French.
Triades’ catalogue includes books in the fields of education, medicine, biology, philosophy, and more. Its publications are addressed to all those seeking to understand themselves and the world around them. There is no single prescribed path for studying spiritual science; rather, each individual is encouraged to discover their own way.
None of the books claims to offer final answers. What matters most is embarking on an inner journey, asking personal questions, and engaging in exploration.
Beginnings and Translation of Works
The Swiss initiative began in Geneva in 1958, led by Valentine Rikoff, Pierre Dérobert, and Jean-Jacques Renaud.
Today, the publisher’s library includes 180 titles. The main series, entitled Science de l’Esprit (Spiritual Science), consists of translations of Rudolf Steiner’s works, including both his written texts and transcriptions of his numerous lectures. To date, 20% of these lectures still await translation into French. The organization of the books follows the original German numbering known as GA (Gesamtausgabe).
ÉAR also publishes anthroposophical texts by various authors, most of which are translated from German.
Other Publishers
Through their online shop and physical bookstore, the network also offers books from other anthroposophical publishers, in addition to a curated selection of other titles and children’s books.
The network provides access to a library and an online store that make available works by additional publishers in the field of anthroposophy, as well as children’s books and a selected range of other intellectual works.
Editorial Line
The editorial focus includes:
- Translating the works of Rudolf Steiner into French, including both his writings and lectures.
- Maintaining a main series titled Science de l’Esprit, comprising more than 180 titles.
- Continuing efforts to translate the remaining 20% of Steiner’s lectures.
- Publishing anthroposophical texts by other authors, mostly translated from German.
The network also emphasizes:
- Publishing philosophical, educational, medical, and biological works.
- Encouraging readers to engage in self-directed inquiry and to discover spiritual science independently, without predefined paths.
- Offering books that do not provide definitive answers, but rather invite personal reflection and exploration of individual questions.
Conclusion
This publishing network is dedicated to disseminating knowledge related to anthroposophy and to encouraging the personal discovery of spiritual and intellectual sciences. It addresses readers interested in humanistic philosophy, education, health, and spiritual science, while maintaining a strong commitment to intellectual and scholarly quality and to presenting its publications in an accessible manner for readers.
