Literary Adventure and Breaking Away from Traditional Publishing Models
Edition Rösner Publishing House was founded in 2002 by Mag. Nadja Rösner-Krisch, who positioned the press as a guardian of the traditional values of book culture while seeking to align them with the demands of a rapidly changing modern market.
- The publishing philosophy of the house is grounded in a set of core values that define its professional and cultural orientation, which can be summarized as follows:
- Careful selection of publications in terms of linguistic quality and intellectual content, ensuring that each book represents a meaningful contribution to intellectual life.
- Comprehensive editing of every new title—content-wise, legally, and formally—through close collaboration with authors, so that each book emerges as a carefully crafted, flaw-free work.
- Aesthetic and professional book design, with particular attention to covers, paper selection, typography, and interior layout, developed in cooperation with the authors themselves, so that every publication becomes a fully integrated artistic work.
- Professional and well-structured distribution, aimed at reaching the widest possible readership, based on a vision that regards every book as a message addressed to the world.
In its early years, the publishing house focused on social criticism, women’s studies, philosophy, and cultural studies. Over time, however, it expanded its scope to include contemporary literature, with a particular emphasis on writers from the Austrian state of Lower Austria.
Literary Adventures
The house has embraced a cultural vision based on literary experimentation and a departure from conventional publishing patterns, expressed through several key approaches:
- Publishing debut works by new authors, with special editorial attention devoted to refining their talents and developing their texts.
- Releasing challenging or non-commercial literary works, particularly in the field of poetry.
- Publishing a series of bilingual editions, featuring texts in Latin, Czech, Persian, French, and English.
- Republishing lost or forgotten texts of high intellectual value within a special series entitled tranScript.
Modernity and Tradition
As a symbolic reflection of the spirit of the age, the publishing house describes its contemporary philosophy through a playful expression that blends modernity and tradition. At the same time, it seeks to employ modern tools and digital publishing platforms to achieve its cultural goals and to promote texts it considers valuable and worthy of wider circulation.
