Since its founding in Beirut, before the year 2014 bid farewell to its dreams, a question has arisen haunted by its clear message:
“Promoting an Arab culture that stimulates questions of meaning and value and awareness of them.” Therefore, the short years that followed were a serious challenge in establishing its presence in the large, complex world of Arabic publishing. From the city of contradictions and pain, Beirut. Those in charge of the house soon sided early on with the option of publishing, printing, and distributing intellectual and creative production that was different in quantity and quality, stemming from deep contemplation and writing.Enlightening the Arab generations, in culture, behavior and way of thinking.
As prominent names responded to this creative bias and decided to publish their works under the slogan of Dar Question, and in record time, the seriousness and proficiency of these large and diverse names in the modern art of communication and interaction was evident, and the house soon became an example to be emulated in this field. In addition to the best advantage that distinguished the house compared to its counterparts in the world of publishing, which is the observance of the author’s intellectual rights, according to a clear legal framework between him and the house in a professional manner. And appreciation. It also crowned all of this with an unmistakable keenness to participate and interact with the great Arab cultural scene through its activities, occasions and events.
Within a short period of time, the publishing house has achieved much of what it aspires to and is worthy of pride, as it has gained the trust of writers who have a distinguished position not only in the Arab world but also in the world. We mention here, for example, but not limited to:- The great novelist Ibrahim Al-Koni republished his epic, The Magi, under the logo of Dar Question, and from this edition, its English version was recently issued. Then he followed it with brilliant new works, such as: the novels “The Camel of God,” “Silivium,” and “The Season of Sharing the Land,” which reread immigration as a philosophy and concept in a remarkably creative way. Al-Koni, through Al-Dar, also has works and texts that are no less important than novels, such as “The Spirit of the Lost Dimension,” “The People of Secrets,” and “Instrumental for Psalmated Strings.”- The prominent Iraqi translator, Khairy Al-Daman, returned from the Dar Question portal to revive translation projects into Arabic and from Russian to be precise, with an unprecedented quantity and type. Perhaps the most prominent fruit of this victorious return is the book “Letters” by Fyodor Dostoevsky, which came in two volumes to reveal dark corners of the biography of the greatest novelist. Then Al-Daman continued his bet on Dar Question, and through it he published three works by another Russian novelist, Andrei Platonov, which are “The Hole,” “Ghosts,” and “The Sea of Boyhood.” In addition to an extensive work that was a pen imageBy Dostoyevsky from the memoirs of his wife Anna Dostoevsky. Recently, the publishing house issued the first Arabic translation of the famous novel by contemporary Russian writer Anatoly Pristavkin (1931-2008) (The Cuckoo’s Chicks), which he wrote nearly 30 years ago.
