Vallard Publishing House was founded in July 1857 in the French capital Paris by Jean-François Arthur Vallard, starting from the beginning with a revolutionary vision aimed at breaking the monopoly of knowledge and making the printed book accessible to limited budgets and popular classes by publishing high-quality booklets and books at very low prices that did not exceed a few centimes. With the second generation, represented by Arthim Fayar, Jr., taking over the management of the Maison in 1895, the institution entered its golden age and flourished in an unprecedented way after it developedA widely popular publishing strategy, she launched popular literary collections and detective series that have sold millions of copies around the world.

1958 saw a fundamental shift in the ownership structure of the Maison when the renowned Hachette Group acquired a majority stake in its capital, making it a joint stock company that today falls under the umbrella of Lagardere Publishing. Vallard is a comprehensive public publishing house with a historical catalogue of more than eight thousand titles, with disciplines ranging from French and international literature to detective novels.suspense narratives, as well as its remarkable leadership in the fields of history, humanities and social sciences, philosophical research and political documents, which include the memoirs of international leaders and advisers, in addition to having a unique section at the level of Europe specialized in musical science books.The expansion of the Maison was not limited to its original name, but extended to include the acquisition and launch of several specialized sub-brands to meet the demands of changing markets; the most prominent of which are the Pluriel brand dedicated to economic pocket publications in the social sciences, the Mazarine brand that focuses on modern feminist and romantic literature, the Bouvier brand interested in non-traditional freedom of thought and business publications, as well as the One Thousand and One Nights brand that offers short classic and contemporary texts at competitive prices.and the modern Fayard Graphic brand specializing in novels and comics.

Throughout its long history, the House has succeeded in attracting an elite of the most prominent names and intellectual and political summits in the world, publishing for great international writers such as Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Thomas Mann, Vladimir Nabokov and George Semnon, and it has become the preferred platform for publishing the memoirs of historical leaders and prominent political figures such as Nelson Mandela, Hillary Clinton, Henry Kissinger and Boutros Boutros-Ghali, as well as former French presidents ValéryGiscard d 'Estaing and François Mitterrand. Aldar currently operates its operations and cultural activities from its headquarters located in Rue Montparnasse in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.
