The publishing house, which celebrated its centenary in 2007 and currently publishes seventy books annually, mostly in the humanities and social sciences, has a prestigious reputation for producing award-winning studies in the fields of anthropology, classical studies, communication, cultural studies, gender studies, history, literary studies, philosophy, political theory, race and ethnicity, religion, sociology, and theology.and urban studies, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary creative works. Each year, the Maison publishes two collections of poetry through the Poets Out Loud award. Fordham University Press has a long history of publishing books focused on the New York area, and in 2010 it created the Empire State Editions brand to improve the commercialization of these regional blockbuster books.
