Ferbrecher Verlag is an independent publishing house founded in 1995 by Werner Labisch and Jörg Sondermeyer. Since 2014, Sondermeyer has run the publishing house jointly with Christine Listau. The publishing program is diverse, with a focus on novels, but Ferbrecher Verlag also publishes political non-fiction and academic works.Fiction programme: In addition to comprehensive reviews of the works of Gioi Margoelashvili, Rudolf Lorenzen and Christian Gessler, the edition of "The Memoirs" by Erik Mohsam was one of the major projects of the publishing house.

The publishing house not only supports forgotten literary voices, but also supports young talent. For example, the debut novels of Nino Haratishvili, Lisa Kranzler, and Giovanna Reisinger caused a sensation. Kranzler's second novel was also shortlisted for the Leipzig Book Prize in 2013.Anke Stelling's novel Floor to Ceiling Windows was longlisted for the German Book Prize in 2015. Her third novel, Sheep in the Drought, won several awards, including the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2019.
