Founded in 1956, DuMont was the publisher of an art publishing house in the early years.
Since the 1970s, Reiseliteratur and travel guides have been a key area for three decades. In 1998 DuMont presented his first literary program.
Today, the DuMont publishing house links the program areas of literature, non-fiction and illustrated non-fiction. The literature program includes German-language and international present literature, as well as high-level stress and entertainment literature. The non-fiction book contains biographies, cultural history and popular science as well as numerous texts and pictures from the area of art, design and lifestyle.
Since 2010 there is an own DuMont pocket book program. A large part of the books also appears in digital form.
