Abderrazak Al-Albani was born in Marrakesh and studied geology at the University of Lille, where he obtained a doctorate in geology and sedimentary geochemistry. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Keele University thanks to a grant from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He is a professor at the University of Poitiers and a researcher at the French National Center for Scientific Research, where he coordinates an international consortium of sixteen institutions specialized in the study of early life.
