In the publishing house Klett-Cotta, a book and magazine program with a wide thematic spectrum appears: from literature and fantasy, general non-fiction, history, politics and philosophy to psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, psychology and education.
The two names Klett and Cotta, combined with the phantasy-bird griffin, stand for two traditions, which were brought together at the reestablishment of the publishing house 1977.
Cotta, founded in 1659, the authoritative publisher of German classical music, stands for great literature and philosophy, as it had also developed in the publishing support of Johann Friedrich von Cotta, the publisher of Goethe, Schiller and others.
The second tradition line goes back to the publishing house Ernst Klett developed between 1936 and 1976. The program spectrum is far-reaching: from literary fantasy, which we find in the Hobbit press, psychoanalysis, psychology, pedagogy, human sciences, the exciting non-fiction, always touching the human being and his culture, to the literary and intellectual Inherited essay.
The important element of the historical book is based on the tradition of the French École des annales and is continued with a focus on the new Anglo-Saxon form of narrative historiography.
Recently, the traditional brand Klett-Cotta with the Imprint Troppen has placed a program with young, urban and progressive literature as well as radical, popcultural or political coined booklets reach additional readers.
In the work of the publishing house this mixture of tradition and renewal has proved to be consistent and forward-looking. This is expressed by the enthusiasm and expectation of our readers.
