When I first picked up the book and noticed that it started with a Quiz designed to identify, apparently, your strengths and weaknesses and direct you to a relevant Chapter my immediate reaction was ‘gimmick’.
Then, when I read in the introduction a recommendation to skim the book first to gain an overview of the content before proceeding I changed my mind.
The reason is because many of us, often under pressure to perform or produce as quickly as possible, tend to skim things first before searching for the messages.
There are many statements dotted throughout this book with which I have some sympathy or with which I agree.
For example:
“BrainSmart leaders know that people are the primary asset of any organization, and that harnessing the creative and innovative ability of their workforce will help their company…..remain competitive in the new global economy.”
“No news is not good news. Ifyou aren’t talking to me, it usually means there’s a problem.”
Leaders need to `create an environment that promotes creativity growth, learning, responsibility and teamwork.”
“The relentless competition unleashed by the growing international fight for market share means that companies are under constant pressure to lower prices while improving product quality and service. …
