Evil – The Evil Being: A Widespread Topic Throughout History. We encounter it in our daily lives, in press reports and the media, in crime, politics and wars. At the same time, it has been thought about for centuries in religions, moral philosophy, and the humanities. Last but not least, evil appears as an accusation, a theme, a question, or a cautionary example in drama and fiction.This volume traces literary figures embodying evil through their historical development. The texts studied are often associated with theoretical concepts, but each text reveals the subject in a more realistic, complex and multifaceted way. Fifteen examples - from Schiller (1781) to the present day (2011) - are analysed and explored within their historical and methodological contexts.

About Prof. Hanns Frericks
Professor Hans Freirex, born in 1944, studied philosophy, German studies and political science. He headed the German Department and a department at the State Institute of Teaching Science and Teacher Training in Stuttgart. He also chaired for many years the Ethics Curriculum Committee for Vocational High Schools and Vocational Schools. He has many publications in the fields of ethics, German studies and specialized teaching curricula in each of them.
